Wherever you live or whatever your beliefs, chances are that the winter months will be celebrated or marked in some way. We love the mixture of traditions which have touched our lives and the hotchpotch of festive objects we have gathered for our home over the years. For us Christmas is about comfort, celebration and personal touches. We’re happy to put aside the idea of ‘perfect styling’ and to opt for simple, effortless ideas so we can spend quality time with the ones we love.
F is for Festive Feasting
Food is a such a central part to our festive celebrations and we love to combine elements of a traditional British roast with some of our French favorites. To serve we would choose this gorgeous pottery dinnerware by Celadon from Heal’s (From £20). As a finishing touch we love this simple idea from Inspired by Charm on Pinterest - to create a wreath of fragrant rosemary for each place setting.
F is for Festive Festooning
We’re fascinated by the origins of decorations, which are often passed from one generation to the next. Whilst showing at the Country Living Christmas Fair we saw so many designs and were particularly enchanted by angels for the top of the tree, something we don’t have in France. These knitted angels by Laura Long have vintage gowns and are just the right side of cute for us (£25). We would add a festoon of these Nesting String Lights in rose gold by Anthropologie for a touch of winter luxury. (£32)
F is for Festive Fun
Sipping a glass of Champagne from a traditional coup is always a little more celebratory and this Biba design from House of Fraser is a particular beauty. (£11.20). We also love to play games in our household and will be snapping up this new Lucky Dip Edition of Dip Sticks from John Lewis (£12.50) which has music, charade, name, dare or joke options. Warning - we may become competitive...
F is for Flopping out!
Hygge is the buzz word this winter and there is much to love about the Danish tradition for getting all cosy and aglow. The lead up to Christmas can be quite hectic so as the evening draws near - it is wonderful to sink into a pile of our favourite soft cushions (From £49) on a big comfy chair. We would pick Paddywax candles (£36.95 each) in stylish cement pots from Haygen in Camden Passage. The Salted Grapefruit and Sea Salt & Sage would create the perfect Hygge atmosphere for our Christmas relaxation.
All of us at Kouamo wish you much joy and merriment for the festive season and a very happy Christmas.
